No two divorces are the same. The court determines many factors to reach decisions regarding a child custody case and always considers the best interest of the child. This can be a very involved process. It can be unnerving when you have no idea what to expect.
At the Law Offices of Jacob Partiyeli in Los Angeles, we help you to understand the legal process. We know that beyond the hardship of the divorce you are going through is the fact that those you love most are involved – your children.
There are several ways a child custody case can be ruled. The mother or the father may be awarded the children but sometimes, both parents share custody. In many cases, each of the parents has some form of legal rights to the children. How the rights are allocated can vary, however.
Complications in child custody cases often arise when parents dispute how they feel custody should be decided. One party may make claims against the other or debate that a certain outcome would not be in the children’s best interest for one reason or another. The court will hear and consider all the factors involved and make a ruling. The expert team at the Law Offices of Jacob O. Partiyeli will help ensure when the decision is made, it is in your favor.

If you are a parent initiating or going through a child custody dispute, the first step you should take is file a Request for Order for Child Custody and Visitation with the court. The court will ten have both parents go to the Family Court Sponsored Services where both will be given the opportunity to resolve their differences under the guidance of a licensed therapist. If the dispute is resolved, the court order can be finalized. If it remains unresolved, the court will litigate the case.
It is important to have legal representation even if you are attempting to come to a resolution through the Family Court Sponsored Services system so you can be sure you are aware of any potential issues that could arise as a result of the agreement you intend to make and so that you can be certain your best interest and the best interest of your children are being honored.
